There’s something about deciding to fulfill your purpose that seems to stir up every kind of resistance imaginable. The moment you commit to doing something that truly matters — something that will impact lives and leave a legacy — it feels as though everything starts working against you.

When I made the decision to focus 100% on accomplishing my purpose, it wasn’t long before the challenges began:

A tree fell on my house while I was asleep.

I lived in an RV for nine months while my home was being rebuilt.

A wave of unexpected health challenges appeared.

While walking along the Detroit Riverfront, a woman on a scooter crashed into me, injuring my right hand.

And that was just the beginning.

Each event left me wondering, “Why now?” But then I remembered something powerful. Right after Jesus was baptized and His ministry officially began, the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness. It was there that He faced intense testing — not to destroy Him, but to prove He could not be shaken. Once that was clear, His ministry began with unstoppable power.

That story reminded me that God doesn’t cause our trials, but He uses them. They reveal what’s inside us — our faith, our perseverance, and our readiness for promotion. Every time you come through a challenge with faith intact, you become stronger. More focused. More prepared for the next level.

It’s the mercy of God that holds back success until He knows you can handle it. He never sets us up to fail; He prepares us for victory.
